The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) released a video on Monday showing what it said were attacks on Pakistani forces’ posts and commercial vehicles along trade routes in Balochistan over the past three months.

“BLA fighters seized control of more than 14 posts over three months and destroyed them, seizing weapons from the forces,” the group said in a caption accompanying the video, adding that the operations included locations along the Quetta–Taftan trade route.

The footage shows commercial vehicles being targeted along the highway, known as the N-40, which links Balochistan with Iran. It also includes scenes of explosions destroying bridges on the Quetta–Karachi route and attacks on Frontier Corps and police checkpoints.

The video also shows police and Levies personnel being detained and their weapons seized.

The release comes amid the BLA’s ongoing “economic blockade” campaign, announced earlier this year on major routes across Balochistan. Under the campaign, the group said it would restrict mineral transport and the trade of LPG, oil and other goods.

The BLA has said hundreds of vehicles carrying minerals, gas, LPG and other commercial goods have since been stopped, seized or attacked. In August alone, it claimed to have targeted 60 vehicles and established blockades at 32 locations.

The group says the campaign is directed against what it describes as the “plundering of Balochistan’s natural resources”, “colonial exploitative projects” and the movement of Pakistani forces.

“Until Balochistan is transformed into an inevitable economic burden for the occupying state, it is impossible to halt its blind military adventurism and the horrific cycle of Baloch genocide,” BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch said in an earlier statement.
