The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for five separate attacks targeting Pakistani military personnel and state-backed “death squad” operatives in Balochistan, including operations in Quetta, Zamuran, and Kolwah.

In a statement released on Wednesday, BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch said the group’s fighters carried out the operations using a mix of remote-controlled IEDs, armed assaults, and targeted executions of arrested individuals.

The BLA said one of the attacks took place earlier on Wednesday in the Daghari area near Quetta, where fighters targeted Pakistani military bomb disposal personnel. According to the group, a remote-controlled IED was detonated while the personnel were clearing a route, killing both soldiers on the spot.

In a separate attack around 10:00 AM in the Kuluki area of Zamuran, BLA fighters reportedly targeted Pakistani army personnel travelling on a motorcycle. The group claimed the IED blast left two personnel seriously injured and damaged their vehicle.

On 26 May, BLA fighters attacked a Pakistani military outpost in the Sah Dem area of Zamuran using heavy weapons. The group said the assault inflicted “significant casualties” on Pakistani forces.

On the same day, BLA fighters reportedly intercepted and set fire to two vehicles transporting supplies for the Pakistani army in the Archanan Kaur area of Zamuran.

The BLA also claimed responsibility for the execution of a man it described as a state informant. According to the group, Abdul Latif, son of Muhammad Ali and a resident of Kolwah Jat, was detained in a raid on 27 April. The BLA said Latif confessed during interrogation that he had been recruited by Pakistani intelligence through a known “death squad” operative named Rashid.

Latif allegedly admitted to delivering a tracking device on behalf of the Pakistani army, which was hidden in the luggage of BLA fighters in Kolwah’s Jat area in November 2022. The group claimed the device enabled the Pakistani army to track the fighters’ location, leading to drone strikes and clashes that resulted in casualties among its ranks.

The BLA said Latif was found guilty of “national treason” by the “Baloch National Court” and was executed by BLA fighters in the Nagor area of Kolwah on 21 May.

The BLA concluded its statement by affirming that attacks on Pakistani military forces, state-backed collaborators, and infrastructure would continue as part of its campaign for Balochistan’s independence.

The BLA is one of the largest armed groups in Balochistan and has been engaged in an armed insurgency for decades, seeking independence from Pakistan. The group frequently claims responsibility for attacks on Pakistani military personnel, intelligence operatives, and infrastructure projects across the region.

According to data compiled by The Balochistan Post’s Data Visual Studio, the BLA carried out at least 302 attacks in 2024, resulting in over 580 fatalities and more than 370 injuries.
