Pakistani forces came under attack during a military operation in Balochistan’s Kalat district on Monday, local sources said.
The forces were conducting a large-scale operation in several areas, including Harboi, Morten, Iskalko, Shekhri and Yousafi.
Troops on foot, along with convoys of military vehicles and motorcycles, were seen moving into the area.
According to local sources, troops riding motorcycles were ambushed in Harboi.
The attackers opened fire, killing several soldiers, sources said.
Weapons and other military equipment were seized from the dead personnel, they added.
Meanwhile, The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) claimed responsibility for an attack on the Frontier Corps (FC) main camp in Panjgur.
BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch said the attack was carried out on the evening of 21 March.
He said fighters used a grenade launcher to target FC personnel inside the camp.
The attack took place while soldiers were walking on the camp grounds, according to the BLF.
The group claimed several soldiers were injured.
“We claim responsibility for the attack and will continue targeting Pakistan’s military and security forces,” the BLF spokesperson said.
