Kech district in Balochistan is once again in the grip of fear and grief as two unidentified bodies were found within days of a brutal killing that has shocked the region. On Sunday, a body was discovered in a Corolla car on Mirabad Road in Tump, and later that day, another was found near the Abdohi border, riddled with bullet wounds. Authorities have launched investigations, but so far, the victims’ identities remain unknown.
According to reports, the dead body discovered in the abandoned Corolla car in Mirabad has been identified as Sameen, a resident of Bebbarshor in Pasni. It is still unclear how his dead body ended in Mirabad, and who were the people responsible for his demise.
These discoveries follow the horrifying murder of Naveed Baloch, a young activist from Buleda in Kech. Naveed, who had been tirelessly campaigning for the release of his cousin Uzair, was found dead just days ago. Uzair had allegedly been abducted by intelligence agencies the previous week, a fate all too familiar to families across Balochistan. Naveed’s body was a chilling reminder of the risks faced by those who dare to seek justice.
Dr. Mahrang Baloch of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee condemned the killing, calling it a calculated attempt to silence dissent. “First, they forcibly disappear our youth, and when we raise our voices, they murder us in cold blood,” she said. She described Naveed’s murder as barbaric, pointing out how his body was almost burned, a gruesome symbol of the cruelty inflicted on activists in the region.
Dr. Mahrang urged the people of Balochistan to unite against these atrocities. “We must raise our voices together against the tyrannical state’s actions,” she emphasized
The murders have left communities in shock, amplifying fears over the growing number of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings in Balochistan.
