Six Pakistani soldiers, including a Lieutenant Colonel, were killed in an armed clash with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants in North Waziristan, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military’s media wing.
The ISPR said that the incident occurred on the night of October 4-5 in the Spinwam area, where security forces were conducting an intelligence-based operation. During the exchange of fire, Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Ali Shoukat, who was leading the operation, was killed.
The other soldiers who were killed were identified by the ISPR as Lance Naik Muhammad Ullah, Lance Naik Akhtar Zaman, Lance Naik Shahid Ullah, Lance Naik Yusaf Ali, and Sepoy Jameel Ahmed.
The ISPR also mentioned that six TTP militants were “neutralized” during the exchange of fire. However, no further details about the identities of the militants were released.
