The dead body of a missing Baloch youth was found in Panjgur as two more fell victim to enforced disappearances in Kharan on Thursday.

According to reports, the Pakistani security forces allegedly forcibly detained two individuals on Thursday night from the Killi Tagzi area of the district Kharan. The detainees are relatives identified as Bilal Baloch and Fazal Baloch son of Ghulam Jan.

Meanwhile, the residents of the area have blocked the Jungle Road in protest against the enforced disappearances.

On the other hand, the body of a missing youth who was recently detained from Kech district by a local ‘death squad’ has been found in Panjgur.

Local sources said that a body was found near the Pul-abad Jurkan Kaur area of Panjgur, bearing bullet wounds. The Levies Force transferred the body to the teaching hospital for identification, where he was identified as Naveed, son of Lal Baksh.


Regional sources have indicated that the abductors were members of the government-backed armed group, known as a ‘death squad.’

As per reports, ‘death squads’ are active armed groups in various parts of Balochistan. According to political and human rights activists, these groups, which comprise of hardened criminals, are involved in all kinds of crimes, including kidnappings for ransom, enforced disappearances, extortion, and target assassinations of political activists. These groups are allegedly backed by the Pakistan army and secret agencies to counter the ongoing independence movement in Balochistan.
