The Quetta-Karachi highway in the vicinity of Balochistan’s Mastung remains closed at two key locations due to separate ongoing protests.
The first blockade was initiated by local women protesting against the late-night raids by Pakistani forces on the home of tribal leader Mir Gul Jan Shahwani. The raid, which reportedly involved significant destruction within the home and desecration of private spaces, prompted the women to block the highway at Khad Koocha, Mastung. This protest has led to severe traffic disruptions, causing long queues of vehicles on both sides of the highway.
Simultaneously, truck drivers are staging a protest on the same highway at Badrang. The drivers are protesting against the violent treatment they have experienced at the hands of the Motorway Police. This blockade has also caused significant disruptions to traffic flow, resulting in extended lines of vehicles.
