Iran claims to have targeted two bases of Jaish ul-Adl, a Sunni religious armed group, in Panjgur area of (Pakistan-administered) Balochistan on Tuesday.
According to reports, the attack was carried out using drones and missiles at two separate locations, including Koh-E-Sabz in Panjgur, nearby the Goldsmith line that separates Iranian-administered and Pakistan-administered Balochistan. Iran’s Tasnim news agency reported that two “important headquarters” of Jaish al-Adl, also known as the “Army of Justice,” were destroyed in Pakistan.
Local sources confirmed that two children were killed, and three women were injured and were shifted to a hospital. The deceased have been identified as 4-year-old Humaira and 2-year-old Salma, while the injured have been identified as Jameela, wife of Karim Dad, 17-year-old Asma, daughter of Karim Dad, and 19-year-old Lalo.
In a statement issued by Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesman, the attack was strongly condemned, calling it an “unprovoked violation” of its airspace. Pakistan warned that the incident could have “serious consequences” and was “completely unacceptable.”
Meanwhile, Jaish ul-Adl acknowledged the attack and confirmed that the homes of its fighters were attacked by the IRGC in Balochistan.
The aforementioned militant group has been responsible for numerous attacks, including suicide bombings, against the Iranian government. Iran has carried out dozens of similar attacks in the past but with no reported casualties.
The attacks came a day after Iran’s Revolutionary Guards fired missiles at alleged Israeli spy headquarters in Iraq’s Kurdistan region and alleged Islamic State-linked targets in Syria.
