Pakistani law-enforcement forces allegedly conducted a search operation and forcibly disappeared a father along with his young son from the Kech district of Balochistan on Thursday night.
According to reports, Pakistani forces carried out a search operation at the Customs Market in Mand tehsil at midnight and detained a man named Ali Akbar and his son Mohammad Jan after torturing them at their residence. As per sources, both detainees were shifted to an undisclosed location by the security forces after their arrest. However, Ali Akbar was later released but his son Mohammad Jan remains missing.
It is pertinent to mention that the enforced disappearances issue in Balochistan has raised questions time and again about the role of Pakistan’s intelligence agencies. Local and International rights organizations often accuse Pakistani secret services and security institutions of being involved in these forced disappearances. However, the Pakistani authorities deny the allegations.
