Four people were reportedly killed in an alleged encounter on the outskirts of Quetta, the capital of Balochistan

The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) claims to have killed four “terrorists” in an encounter in the Aghberg area on the outskirts of Quetta. The CTD alleges that the deceased individuals were associated with the banned outfit Tahreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, also known as TTP.

The CTD claimed that those killed were involved in targeted killings of police and law enforcement agencies. Furthermore, the CTD claims to have recovered suicide vests, five hand grenades, and other prohibited items, including explosives, from the house used by the accused.

The credibility of CTD operations in Balochistan has been questioned in the past, with CTD claims being proven false through media and other sources.

Many of those killed in these operations have been identified as Baloch missing persons, and evidence of the killing of detainees from certain religious parties has also been observed.

Recently, the CTD claimed to have killed nine TTP members under similar circumstances, but later, two of the deceased were identified as forcibly disappeared individuals.
