The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed that it has killed four “suspected terrorists” in an encounter in Chaman, a bordering Afghanistan town of Balochistan on Wednesday.
According to the CTD spokesperson, the operation was carried out on the compound near the Afghan border on a tip-off, in the exchange of fire, three terrorists present in the compound were killed and explosives including suicide jackets were also recovered from their possession.
“A member of the banned religious organization Tehreek-e-Jihad Pakistan (TJP), involved in the firing on the policeman on Tuesday, was arrested and informed about the whereabouts of his other three associates during the investigation,” CTD statement reads.
CTD spokesperson further said the slain members of TJP were Ali Muhammad alias Chhota Kari, Abdul Qadeer alias Mansoor, Imdadullah alias Gran and Akhtar Jan alias Good Mansoor.
However, the religious armed group TJP rejected CTD’s claims in a media statement on Thursday.
The TJP spokesman said the aforementioned persons were already detained by the Pakistan security forces a few days back and were killed in a fake encounter.
It is pertinent to mention that rights groups in the past have been accusing the CTD of rounding up forcibly disappeared persons and shooting them dead at point-blank range.
