Hundreds of civilians gathered in Quetta on Saturday to protest against the severe shortage of natural gas in the provincial capital and its environs. The protestors blocked the main Quetta-Karachi RCD highway and brought the traffic to a halt.

The protestors said that the natural gas supply in the said areas is unpredictable and unreliable. They said that despite paying full bills, the residents in these areas suffer from gas shortages.

They said that the gas supply to the townships of Sona Khan police station area of Quetta has been halted for several days. They said that the authorities were informed multiple times, but they did not take any steps to solve the problem.

The protestors demanded that the government take prompt measures to restore the gas supply to the said areas.

It should be noted that the gas supply network in Quetta and its environs was destroyed due to heavy monsoon rains and raging floods. Gas supply to several areas was stopped as the pipelines were washed away. However, the government has not taken any significant steps to mitigate the damage.
