Students of the Jhalawan Medical College in Khuzdar protested on Tuesday against the Pakistan Medical Commission, saying that the PMC must stop gambling with the students’ future.

According to the details, the Jhalawan Medical College, Loralai Medical College and Makran Medical College are not yet registered by the Pakistan Medical Commission. As a result, students taking admission in these colleges cannot appear in the National Medical and Dental College Admission Test (NMDCAT) which is conducted by the PMC annually. The students would have to attempt a separate test, conducted by the Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University in Islamabad.

The students said that these three colleges lack basic facilities which have made it difficult for them to acquire quality education. The new PMC rule will make it harder for the students to continue their education.

The students said that these three colleges have been operating for several years, and yet they are not registered by the PMC. They said that those extra examinations are putting an additional, unnecessary burden on the students.

In the Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Science (LUAWMS) in Uthal, students of the geology organized a demonstration in front of the faculty, asking for basic facilities. They said that that the Department of Geology lacks all the basic equipment required for practical examinations. They said that the paucity of the required scientific equipment has seriously hindered their ability to learn.

The students asked the university administration to provide the required equipment.
