A dozen individuals, including four minors, have reportedly gone “missing” at the hands of the Pakistani security forces in an ongoing military search operation in Turbat. The forces have carried out raids on various houses and cordoned off several areas.

According to the details, a large-scale military search operation is underway in Turbat, the central city of district Kech. The forces carried out raids in Danuk, Gogdaan and Dagari Kahn areas of Turbat and “forcibly disappeared” a dozen individuals. The forces cordoned off the Soraap Bridge and detained four minors who were bathing in the adjoining stream. The forces moved the detained individuals to an undisclosed location. Their identities have not been confirmed yet.

It should be noted that on Thursday morning, the Pakistani forces were attacked at a local petrol pump in Danuk. Baloch “pro-independence” group Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) claimed responsibility for the attack, saying that its “sarmachars” hurled a hand grenade on the patrol bike of the Pakistani forces, killing one on the spot and critically injuring the other.

The Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistani army, confirmed the news in a media statement, saying that the “militants” had killed Aqeel Abbas, a resident of Chakwal, in the attack. ISPR also said in the statement that the Frontier Corps have begun a large-scale military operation in the region to corner the attackers.

In the past couple of months, the frequency of attacks on the Pakistani forces has dramatically increased. Four days ago, on June 14, four FC soldiers were killed in a grenade attack in Quetta. Since the start of the month, dozens of Pakistani soldiers have been killed in various attacks throughout Balochistan.
