Swiss government has rejected asylum application of Baloch leader and chief of Bugti tribe, Nawab Brahmdagh Bugti.
Brahamdagh Bugti, whose grandfather Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti was killed by Pakistani Army in 2006, has been in Switzerland for more than seven years now. Mr. Bugti and his family had sought asylum in Switzerland in October 2010.
Pakistani government has since diplomatically pressurized Switzerland to handover Mr. Bugti to Pakistan. Pakistani state accuses him of running armed resistance in Balochistan. However, Mr. Bugti has continuously maintained that his struggle for a free Balochistan is peaceful.
Mr. Bugti broke the news regarding refusal of his asylum claim himself on Twitter:
After more than seven years of waiting Switzerland has now rejected my application for political asylum.

In another tweet he said his application was rejected on false allegations of being a member of Baloch Republican Army. He ‘categorically denied’ these allegations.
Swiss authorities have rejected my asylum plea on the basis of false allegations from Pakistan that i am a member/leader of the militant group BRA. I categorically deny these allegations and i have nothing to do with BRA or any militant organization.

Mr. Bugti’s asylum refusal comes after Switzerland shortly detained, deported and then banned another Baloch leader, Nawab Mehran Marri, from entering Switzerland for 10 years.
