Pakistani forces have taken away at least five more Baloch civilians from two cities in Balochistan.

In a spate of ‘abductions’ by security forces, scores have gone missing from Balochistan in last few months. This has significantly increased the number of missing persons, which, the campaign groups in Balochistan claim, is already more than 20,000.

On Wednesday, two civilians, Asim s/o Aslam Meerwani and Wali Mohammad s/o Musafir, were arrested by Pakistani Security forces in Awaran. The arrests were made in front of numbers of market-goers near UBL Bank.

Security forces took the arrested civilians to undisclosed location. According to sources, Wali Mohammad was later released, however, Asim is still missing.

In a separate incident in restive Dera Bugti town, Pakistani security forces made three arrests during a military operation.

During a house to house search in Zen Loti area of Dera Bugti, three men were taken away by Pakistani security forces. They were later identified as Sher Mohammad s/o Hazoor Baksh Bugti, Gabhro s/o Jada Bugti and Nabi Dad Bugti.

Baloch Republican Party, which is headed by Swiss-based Nawab Brahmdagh Bugti, who also hails from Dera Bugti, tweeted from their official Twitter account regarding the military operation in Zen Loti:

Earlier this month, Amnesty International had shown deep concern at the “wave of enforced disappearances that have taken place over recent days in Balochistan”.
