Armed fighters detained a serving Frontier Corps (FC) member during a roadblock in Balochistan’s Khuzdar district, while Pakistani forces and members of an alleged state-backed armed group suffered casualties in a clash in Panjgur, local sources said.
Armed fighters blockaded the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) highway in Khuzdar’s Karkh tehsil for several hours on Sunday and searched passing vehicles, local sources said.
During the blockade, they detained a serving Frontier Corps (FC) soldier identified as Nadir, son of Imdad Hussain, from Gul Bhat in Karkh. Sources told TBP he had recently completed training at a centre in Punjab’s Attock district as part of batch 76.
The fighters also seized a vehicle carrying supplies to a Pakistani military camp and detained its driver during the same blockade, sources added.
In Panjgur, armed fighters blockaded Tasp Star Chowk from 11 p.m. on Sunday until 2 a.m. on Monday. Local sources said Pakistani forces and members of the local armed group, commonly referred to as a “death squad”, attempted to advance into the area, triggering a fierce clash.
The sources said several members of the armed group were killed or wounded and identified three of the injured as Hamza, Tauseef and Deedag. The men were taken to hospital.
The number of casualties among Pakistani forces and the armed group could not be immediately confirmed.
No group had claimed responsibility for the roadblocks, the detentions, the vehicle seizure or the Panjgur clash at the time of reporting.
Military Confirms Major’s Death in Pasni
The incidents come as Pakistan’s military on Monday confirmed that Major Wajahat Waheed, 34, was killed in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack during an operation in Shadi Kaur, near Pasni in Gwadar district.
The military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said a contingent led by the major was targeted during clearance operations in the area.
The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) had claimed responsibility on Sunday, saying seven military personnel, including the major, were killed when its fighters targeted a convoy.
