The Baloch Republican Guards (BRG) has claimed responsibility for attacks targeting vehicles deployed for the security of the Jaffar Express and commercial vehicles carrying minerals in Naseerabad, while the United Baloch Army (UBA) separately claimed to have blown up two electricity transmission towers between Sibi and Dhadar.

BRG spokesperson Dostain Baloch said in a statement issued to the media that fighters blocked the highway near Notal in Naseerabad on Sunday morning and carried out checks on passing vehicles.

He said three vehicles deployed for the security of the Jaffar Express were subsequently targeted, claiming several personnel were killed or wounded, while the train also came under attack.

The spokesperson said two commercial vehicles transporting minerals from Balochistan to Punjab were also targeted with gunfire and rendered inoperable, adding that one of the drivers was taken away.

Meanwhile, UBA spokesperson Mazar Baloch said fighters targeted two towers of the 132kV main transmission line between Sibi and Dhadar at around 8pm on Saturday.

He said both towers were destroyed with explosives, disrupting electricity supplies to Dhadar and surrounding areas.

The BRG and UBA said their attacks would continue until the “independence of Balochistan”.

Pakistani authorities had not commented on the claims at the time of publication.
