Three bodies recovered from Usta Mohammad on August 24 have been identified as men who had reportedly gone missing after allegedly being forcibly disappeared by Pakistani forces, according to local sources.
The deceased have been identified as Hafiz Mohammad Waqas, a Levies personnel from Machh, Bolan, who was reportedly forcibly disappeared in May 2026; his brother, Mittha Khan, son of Nawab Khan; and Maqbool Ahmed, son of Jan Mohammad, a resident of Dasht Sabzband.
Sources said the bodies were recovered from Usta Mohammad on August 24 and bore signs of torture.
The recoveries come amid reports of more than 15 bodies being found in recent days in different parts of Balochistan, including Panjgur, Mastung and Kharan. Several of those recovered from Panjgur were reportedly identified as people who had previously been forcibly disappeared, while the identities of others remain unknown.
Cases involving the recovery of bodies of people previously reported missing have been reported in Balochistan for several years. Political and human rights organisations have accused Pakistani forces of killing missing persons in custody and abandoning their bodies. Pakistani authorities and security institutions have denied involvement in enforced disappearances.
Rights and political groups have repeatedly called for investigations into the disappearances, for missing persons to be brought before courts and for those accused to be given due process.
