The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) said a schoolteacher from Panjgur, who was forcibly disappeared before Eid, was found dead weeks later, bringing an end to his family’s prolonged uncertainty over his whereabouts.
According to the BYC, Hathim Baloch, son of Ahmed, a resident of Panjgur and a schoolteacher, was reportedly forcibly disappeared from Washbood Main Bazaar in Panjgur before Eid. The organisation said he was taken by what it described as state-backed armed groups, locally known as “death squads”, after which his whereabouts remained unknown for several weeks.
The BYC said Hathim Baloch’s body was found on 8 August 2026 near Jaffer Scheme along the main CPEC road. His death marked a tragic end to weeks of uncertainty for his family, according to the organisation.
The organisation described Hathim as a teacher who had dedicated his life to educating others. It said that instead of receiving protection as a civilian and educator, he became another victim of what it described as ongoing violence against Baloch people in Balochistan.
The BYC said his killing reflected what it described as growing threats faced by Baloch civilians, alleging that “death squads” and military-linked elements operate without effective accountability. The organisation said teachers, students, workers, fishermen and other civilians continue to face disappearances and extrajudicial killings, leaving families to endure prolonged grief and trauma.
The organisation further said that the killing of Hathim Baloch and the discovery of his body by the roadside represented not only the loss of a civilian life but also another serious blow to a community already facing a broader human rights crisis.
The BYC called on the international community and human rights organisations to document such cases and demand independent investigations. It urged that the people of Balochistan be provided with protection, justice and answers concerning the fate of their loved ones.
