Two people were killed and eleven others, including four children, were injured in firing allegedly by Pakistani forces in Mastung’s Khadkucha area on Thursday, amid tensions following an attack on a military convoy, according to local sources.

Sources said clashes broke out in the area after an attack on a convoy of Pakistani forces. During the exchange of fire between armed men and Pakistani military personnel, two members of the Bugti tribe who were working in a nearby orchard were killed in Pakistani forces’ indiscriminate firing, while five others sustained serious injuries, local sources said.

One of the deceased was identified as Haday, son of Hairan Nothani Bugti, a resident of the Pir Koh area of Dera Bugti. The second deceased and several of the injured reportedly belonged to the Shalwani branch of the Bugti tribe.

Local sources said that eleven civilians, including four children, were injured in the incident. The wounded were shifted to Quetta due to the severity of their injuries.

Earlier in the day, a large convoy of Pakistani forces came under attack in Mastung. Reports regarding casualties among military personnel could not be independently verified.

The BLA claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that 45 military personnel had been killed and that clashes were continuing in the area.
