Pakistani forces were targeted in an ambush in Turbat on Thursday, where armed men had set up a road blockade earlier, local sources said.
Armed men set up a blockade on the outskirts of Turbat for about three hours and took control of a nearby police post, seizing weapons and equipment, sources said.
A military convoy of six vehicles that entered the area was then ambushed near Mashallah Hotel, triggering an exchange of fire that lasted more than 40 minutes, they said.
Sources said quadcopters deployed by the military were also targeted during the clash, adding that forces suffered casualties and material losses. However, the extent of the damage could not be independently verified.
In the same area, armed men reportedly destroyed a communication tower and two surveillance cameras near Shahdad Hotel.
Elsewhere, armed fighters carried out snap-checking near Mashallah Hotel in Mastung’s Dasht area, marking a second blockade, sources said.
Separately, a gas pipeline near Sibi Teaching Hospital was reportedly blown up, disrupting gas supply to the area.
