A senior politician and former senator, Nawabzada Haji Mir Lashkari Khan Raisani, criticised the Balochistan Mines and Minerals Act as “a law of plunder” and said legal efforts to challenge it would continue.

Speaking to reporters after proceedings at the Balochistan High Court on Wednesday, Raisani said the legislation posed a threat to the province’s natural resources and future interests. He added that his legal team had raised concerns in court over the absence of the chief minister’s purported executive order from the official record.

He also questioned the government’s claim that implementation of the Act had been halted, saying no formal documentation had been presented before the court or released publicly.

Referring to reports about the formation of a committee, Raisani said no official notification or further details had been issued.

He criticised elected representatives for, in his view, prioritising Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) projects over safeguarding provincial rights, adding that such an approach was contributing to socio-economic challenges, including unemployment and poverty, in Balochistan.

He said the legal campaign against the Act would continue, with the aim of protecting the province’s resources for future generations.
