Authorities in Turbat have recovered the body of a young man in the Miri area, local officials said on Thursday.
According to the police, the victim’s body was discovered close to the boundary wall of a school, and initial police observations suggest he had been shot. The body was taken to Turbat Teaching Hospital for medico‑legal procedures, where he was formally identified as Shahab, aged 24.
Police said it has launched an inquiry into the incident.
This discovery comes amid a wider pattern of bodies being found in Balochistan under violent or unexplained circumstances, a trend that has raised concern among rights groups and local communities.
Human rights observers say that Balochistan has seen hundreds of cases in recent years where unidentified or forcibly disappeared individuals later turn up dead in isolated locations, often with gunshot wounds. These incidents have fuelled concerns about enforced disappearances and extrajudicial violence in the region.
