Pakistani forces have allegedly detained a Baloch teenager in Bolan district and moved him to an undisclosed location, as reports of enforced disappearances continue to rise across Balochistan.

According to local sources, Najeeb Sumalani s/o Noor-Ul-Haq Sumalani was picked up late Saturday night from the Pir Ismail area of Bolan. Eyewitnesses said security personnel took him into custody and transported him away, and he has not been seen since.

Human rights groups and local sources have expressed concern over what they describe as a renewed surge in enforced disappearances across Balochistan. On the same day as Najeeb Sumalani’s disappearance, four other individuals were reportedly detained and disappeared by Pakistani forces in Turbat, Khuzdar, and Kalat.

The Balochistan Post has received confirmed reports of at least 37 enforced disappearances from various parts of Balochistan in the first two weeks of June alone. In addition, two individuals were reportedly detained and later killed in custody in Mastung.

According to the latest report by Paank, BNM’s Human Rights Department, 128 people were forcibly disappeared by Pakistani forces in May, while 27 others were allegedly extrajudicially killed.
