Five prisoners, including two Baloch men, two Afghan nationals, and an unidentified individual, were executed at Yazd Central Jail on Monday.
According to Haalvsh News Agency, the Iranian government sentenced the five prisoners to death on “drug-related charges.” The Baloch prisoners have been identified as 34-year-old Abdul Rehman Damini, son of Khuda Bakhsh, and 33-year-old Abdul Rauf Shah Bakhsh. The identities of the other three individuals have not yet been disclosed.
Haalvsh News Agency quoted a source suggesting that one of the three unidentified prisoners may also be a Baloch citizen.
It is reported that Abdul Rehman and Abdul Rauf were arrested in 2020 at Khatam chowki in Yazd on drug charges and were subsequently sentenced to death. The families of both Baloch prisoners had their last meeting with them before the execution took place at Yazd Central Jail.
It is important to note that at least 184 Baloch prisoners have been executed in 26 different cities across Iran, including 54 in Zahedan jail and 31 in Birjand jail, on various charges since the beginning of 2023.
