Two more cases of enforced disappearances emerged from Kech district of Balochistan on Wednesday.

According to reports, Pakistani forces laid siege to the Jama Masjid in Kohd area of Tump on Tuesday night and forcibly disappeared a person named Anees son of Sabzal, who was sitting in ‘Itikaf,’ a a religious retreat performed in the last ten days of Ramadan.

Speaking to media, locals expressed anger over the incident and said that the country (Pakistan) calls itself an Islamic state and acts otherwise.

Additionally, another case of enforced disappearance emerged from Hoshab area of Kech district.

Reports indicate that unidentified individuals allegedly forcibly disappeared man named Mir Mushtaq son of Sawali from Hoshap during a house raid. Following the incident, the residents of the area and Mir Mushtaq’s family staged a sit-in protest on the CPEC highway M-8 at Hosap against the enforced disappearance, due to which traffic on the highway was suspended.

It’s pertinent to mention that enforced disappearances are not uncommon in Balochistan and such incidents are taking place on a daily basis, cases being reported from different parts of Balochistan.

On the other hand, Baloch Yekjetti Committee (BYC) announced its 5th phase of protests and calls for protests across Balochistan on the day of Eid against what it calls ‘Baloch genocide’.

The spokesperson for the BYC stated that protests will take place across Balochistan on Eid as part of the fifth phase of the ongoing movement against the Baloch genocide. Additionally, the BYC extends its support to the protest call by the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) in Karachi and Quetta against enforced disappearances.
