In a recent security operation in Nawabshah, Sindh, Pakistani security forces conducted a raid in the village of Mari Jalbani, Sakrand, resulting in the reported deaths of seven civilians, including five women, on Thursday.
The operation targeted the residence of Rajab Jalbani, a known local nationalist leader. This is not the first time Jalbani’s residence has been the target; he has previously experienced similar raids at his residence and has reportedly been forcibly disappeared once before.
In response to the raid, the Voice for Missing Persons of Sindh (VMPS) labeled it a severe violation of human rights. The group has called on international bodies to take note of the situation and issued an appeal for protest actions across Sindh.
Various nationalist and socio-political entities, including the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (Aresar), have expressed strong dissatisfaction and condemnation of the incident. The unfolding situation continues to spotlight the tensions between nationalist groups and Pakistani security forces in Sindh.
