Tehsil Wadh in Khuzdar remains engulfed in tension after a key member of the locally known Death Squad, Rehmat Rakhshani, was killed amidst a skirmish on Thursday.

Rakhshani, a resident of the Naal area in Khuzdar, had alleged affiliations with an alleged “death squads”, armed groups allegedly backed by the Pakistani army and intelligence agencies to spy on Baloch nationalists.

Local sources claim that Rakhshani was involved in various heinous crimes including abductions, enforced disappearances, and targeted assassinations of nationalist political activists in and around Khuzdar. Additionally, Rakhshani was reportedly involved in kidnapping for ransom, extortion, theft, and robbery.

Preliminary reports from Wadh suggest that recent clashes have resulted in fatalities among several members of the said death squad, including Rakhshani. However, details and identities of the other individuals involved are yet to be fully ascertained.
