In Sui, a sub-district within Balochistan’s Dera Bugti district, an individual identified as Ali Jan, residing in Sajood Colony, concluded his life by self-inflicted gunshot on Thursday.

Reports indicate that the man took his own life because of economic constraints and poverty.

Balochistan has experienced a notable rise in self-inflicted fatalities over recent years. Data compiled by The Balochistan Post Data Visual Studio indicates 29 cases of suicide in Balochistan during the initial half of the current year, comprising of 11 women and 18 men.

Importantly, these reported cases reflect only The Balochistan Post’s coverage, underscoring a prevailing reticence surrounding suicide within Balochistan, with families of victims often concealing such incidents rather than addressing them openly.
