Clashes between Pakistani forces and armed fighters were reported in Balochistan’s Nushki and Khuzdar districts over the weekend, while an explosion hit a Coast Guards officer’s vehicle in Pasni, according to local sources.
In Nushki, armed fighters attacked troops advancing through Reko on the Nushki–Kharan road, near the Hazhdah Khol post. Sources said reinforcements were attempting to reach the area following an overnight attack on the post that triggered several hours of fighting.
Armed fighters also attacked a Levies station in Khuzdar’s Karkh area on Saturday, with exchanges of gunfire continuing until Sunday morning. Sources said the attackers planted explosives at the station’s main gate and destroyed it.
Casualties were reported among the forces, but figures were not immediately available. Authorities had yet to provide details of the attack.
Local sources also said a bridge had been destroyed in Karkh, disrupting traffic.
Meanwhile, a vehicle belonging to a Pakistan Coast Guards lieutenant colonel was hit by an explosion in Pasni during the night between Saturday and Sunday. Heavy gunfire was heard after the blast.
Residents said Pakistani forces sealed off the site, closed businesses and suspended traffic in the city. Authorities had yet to release details of any casualties, and no armed organisation had claimed responsibility at the time of reporting.
The explosion came after an October 18 attack in which the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed seven Pakistani military personnel, including Major Wajahat Waheed, were killed. Pakistan’s military subsequently confirmed the major’s death.
BRG Claims Sniper Attack in Kachhi
Separately, the Baloch Republican Guards (BRG) claimed responsibility for a sniper attack in Kachhi’s Sanni town on Sunday, saying one Pakistani soldier was killed.
In a statement, a BRG spokesperson said its sniper team targeted the soldier while he was on duty at the main military camp.
The group said Pakistani troops responded with “indiscriminate mortar and heavy weapons fire”, adding that its fighters withdrew safely.
“Such operations will continue until Balochistan’s complete independence,” the spokesperson said.
