Karachi’s police force is currently under scrutiny following allegations of staging a “fake” encounter that reportedly left two young boys from Mastung, Balochistan, injured.

While the police argue that the boys were injured in a legitimate encounter, a video released by the family suggests otherwise.

Noor Muhammad and Faheem Ahmad, sons of Khuda Rahim, arrived in Karachi from Mastung to spend their summer holidays with their mother. They were residing in Gulshan Munir Rafi Garden, located in the Alfalah area.

According to the police, on July 27, the forces carried out an encounter at the Rafah-e-Aam Society. Resultantly, Noor Muhammad and Faheem Ahmad sustained gunshots. Furthermore, the police registered a case against the victims, citing the alleged confiscation of weapons.

However, the family claims the encounter was fabricated. They have released a video, showing the two minors being arrested. The footage appears to show an armed police officer using abusive language toward the boys while two other officers escort them away on a motorcycle.

Shortly after the video was taken, both boys were reported as being injured in an encounter at the Rafah-e-Aam Society. This has raised serious questions regarding the validity of the police’s account.

In response to the allegations, the SSP Korangi stated that they have received a complaint, viewed the video, and are currently investigating the incident.

The injured brothers’ academic records indicate that Noor Muhammad completed his matriculation at Hara High School, Mastung in 2022, and his younger brother, Faheem Ahmad, took his ninth-grade exams the same year. Their mother and other family members are demanding action against the involved police officers.
