Baloch Students Action Committee (BSAC) held a protest rally in Turbat city of Kech district, against the burning of schools in Balochistan, on Saturday.

Several schools were set on fire by unidentified armed men in different areas of Balochistan, against which students are continually protesting.

The incidents of burning schools include Khan Kallag High School Dazan in Kech district, the only private school Kulkashan in Buleda Alandoor, and a government school were set on fire by unknown persons, while last month in November, a girl’s school in Pasni city of Gwadar district and a private educational institution TCF in Sonmiani area of Windar city were set on fire.

As per reports, many government and private schools have been set on fire in Balochistan so far. However, these incidents have not been investigated and no action has been taken by the provincial administration. A few days earlier BSAC had held protests in the Uthal area of Lasbela district and Quetta city of Balochistan against the burning of schools.

The protestors said that the act of burning schools will cause fear and panic among the young generation and create more hurdles in the way of students, which is very concerning. The protesters further said that the educational system and structure in Balochistan are already on the verge of destruction. There are only a few schools (deprived of basic facilities) where local children go for education, but now those schools are also being burnt under an organized conspiracy. By this act, the right to education is being taken away from the children of Balochistan.

The protesting students said the provincial administration is not taking any action against the culprits behind the arson attacks, “which indicates that the ruling elite has no interest in public service.

Worth bearing in mind that many schools have been set on fire in the last few months by unknown armed men. Citizens are protesting in various areas of Balochistan against these incidents, but government officials are failed to take action against the wrongdoers.
