The Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commented on the enforced disappearances of Baloch students, the water shortage and the deadly cholera outbreak in Dera Bugti. The group said that electronic media and the ruling elite are deliberately ignoring Balochistan and its people.

TTP, a banned pro-Islamist outfit, said that the Pakistani state has maintained this “brutal” conduct with the people of Balochistan for the past several decades. The people of Balochistan have endured all sorts of cruelties at the hands of their supposed “protectors”, a reference to the Pakistani security forces. The group said that innocent civilians in Balochistan are either forcibly disappeared or been killed off in fake encounters.

The Pakistani Taliban said that the government allocates stupendous funds for trivial activities but the people in the farthest regions of Balochistan long for a gulp of clean drinking water. The group said that the anti-Baloch policies of the Pakistani state have reached the extent that the Baloch students studying in different cities of Pakistan are being racially profiled, harassed and forcibly disappeared.

The Taliban said that only a handful of these students are released, the most of them are incarcerated for several months and even years. “It has become the norm for the Baloch people to run social media campaigns for the safe recovery of their loved ones”, the group said.

The group invited the Baloch nation to join arms with them and unite on a common front to overthrow the rule of Paksitani intelligence agencies and the military.
