27th March was observed as black day by Baloch masses in Balochistan and abroad. This day is commemorated as a “dark day”  every year among Baloch nationalist circles. Demonstrations and  protests are recorded in various ways.

On the occasion of this day, a prominent Baloch nationalist leader and former chairman of the Baloch Students Organisation (BSO) Mir Abdul Nabi Bangulzai, wrote on Twitter that the 27th of March is a “dark day in Baloch history.”

He said that once the British colonial rule ended, Balochistan was an independent and sovereign state, but on March 27, 1948, Pakistan illegally occupied and annexed Balochistan to Pakistan by military force.

Meanwhile, other nationalist parties, including Baloch social media activists were running campaigns on Twitter to mark 27th March as “Black Day.”

Baloch diaspora as usual on this occasion carried out protests and demonstrations in several countries.

The central spokesperson for the Baloch National Movement(BNM) said that on the occasion of March 27 (Sunday), references were made in Balochistan and protests were held in the UK, Germany and South Korea.

As per reports, protesters held banners, placards, pictures of Baloch ‘martyrs’ and missing persons and also chanted slogans against Pakistani atrocities. Protesters in South Korea marched through the streets of Pusan. Demonstrators also distributed pamphlets and delivered speeches.

Demonstrations were held in front of the British Prime Minister’s residence in London. BNM UK Zone’s President Hakeem Baloch, General Secretary Niaz Zehri, BNM Diaspora Committee Organizer Hassan Dost Baloch and BNM Senior Member and former Central Committee Member Manzoor Baloch addressed the demonstrators. The speakers said: “Since the occupation of Balochistan on March 27, 1948, various atrocities have been committed against the Baloch nation. Many of Baloch people are being tortured in Pakistan’s secret prisons and thousands have been brutally killed.”

Abram Baloch, the chairman of the Baloch Students Organization Azad (BSO-A), said “in a tweet, “we experience 1948 in every moment of our daily lives. We see history not as an element of the past but as a part of the present.”

He said that thousands of Baloch people were killed and forcibly disappeared and the looting of our wealth has become the daily routine of Pakistan state.

Gulzar Imam, leader of a Baloch armed group took to the twitter on this occasion saying “Balochistan was never a part of Pakistan. On 27th March, 1948, it was illegally occupied. Freeing Balochistan from occupation needs more than a black day; we must set aside our egos and make revolutionary decisions to move forward.”
