According to reports, an explosion in Quetta, the capital city of Balochistan, killed at least three people, including the DSP Crime Branch, Muhammad Ajmal.

The blast also resulted in injuring 19 people more.

The blast occurred near a police van on Fatimah Jinnah Road in Quetta, killing three people including the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Muhammad Ajmal and injuring 19 others, the authorities confirmed.

Among the injured were two policemen. The injured were taken to the civil hospital in Quetta for treatment.

Police and law enforcement agencies reportedly arrived at the scene of the blast to gather information, but no information about the nature of the explosion has been revealed yet. According to police, Fatima Jinnah Road and the surrounding roads have been closed for traffic.

It is to be noted that earlier, on 25th February, two policemen, including an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), were shot dead by unidentified gunmen near the Eastern Bypass in Quetta. The responsibility of the attack was reportedly accepted by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). However, no one has yet taken the responsibility for Today’s bomb blast.

Chief Minister Balochistan, Abdul Quddus Bizenjo has strongly condemned the attack. In a statement issued after the blast, Mr. Bizenjo has directed the Inspector General of Police to file a report about the attack. He directed the police to arrest the culprits involved in the bomb blast as soon as possible.
