Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited Panjgur district of Balochistan on Saturday, where he spent the day with troops.

According to the military’s media wing, the Quetta Corps Commander Lieutenant General Sarfraz Ali received the army chief. Bajwa was given a detailed update by the local commander on the security situation in the area and the response mechanism for effectively checking emerging threats, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

Army Chief while speaking to the troops stressed on “breaking the link between terrorists and their support bases.” He has appreciated “professionalism and response” by ground troops against recent attacks. He also paid tribute to the fallen troops.

The Pakistan Army Chief’s visits come after the recent attacks by the Baloch Liberation Army on the military headquarters in Panjgur and Noshki districts of Balochistan. Earlier this week, General Bajwa, as well as the Prime Minister of Pakistan, had visited Noshki to boost the morale of security forces and discuss security conditions.

Meanwhile, The local authorities in Noshki have reportedly refused to hand over the bodies of those who attacked the FC headquarters in Noshki, to their families. Sources told TBP that the families of the attackers wanted to take their bodies to their native areas for burial but the Noshki administration refused to hand them over.

The relatives told TBP that the Deputy Commissioner, SHO and other officials have been contacted in this regard but the said persons are not handing over the bodies to the relatives under various pretexts.

The family members further said that the funeral for the dead is part of our tradition and religion and we should have the right to do so.

It is to mention that the dead bodies of the attackers in Panjgur were handed over to their family members on the same day.
