The Baloch Student Organization (BSO) Turbat zone held a welcome program for the newly admitted students in the Atta Shad Degree College on Tuesday. BSO Chairman Jahangir Manzoor Baloch was the chief guest at the event and he was joined by BSO Senior Vice-Chairman Ashraf Baloch, Secretary-General Azeem Baloch and principal degree college Dr. Wahid Baksh. Several other BSO workers and members, officials from the college administration and students were also in attendance.
Addressing the gathering, BSO Chairman Jahangir Baloch said that the academic institutions in Balochistan are in crisis due to government negligence. He said that student politics is being cracked down on and whenever the Baloch students have raised their voice for their due rights, they have been violently silenced.
He said that the Baloch Students Organization has always highlighted the issues facing the students of Balochistan and actively taken steps to root them out. He said that the abysmal condition of the education system of Balochistan is explicit proof for the students that the government has abandoned them – it is up to them now to unite on a common front and play their role in attaining their political and social rights.
General-Secretary Azeem Baloch said that the Baloch students have weathered all sorts of difficulties in their national struggle, but they never backed off; they never condoned exploitation. The ruling elite is employing all sorts of tactics to dishearten the Baloch students from participating in student politics. They have now brought up a new non-political faction to keep the Baloch students away from politics and distract them from their national struggle, he said.
He said that the BSO vows to politically train the Baloch students and raise their concerns its voice against this injustice.
