The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Pakistan reportedly carried out a raid in the Maavand area of district Kohlu on Friday, detaining one individual and harassing his family members.

According to the details, the CTD raided the house of Hazar Khan, a resident of Mavand in Kohlu, and detained his young son Nadir Ali. The security forces also harassed the female householders, including the detainee’s elderly mother. The forces also tried to assault women but were thwarted after the householders put up a resistance.

Ali’s elderly parents said that we are poor and helpless. “These CTD personnel broke into our house, tore our clothes and detained our son”, they said. They demanded the Pakistani authorities to safely release their son. The authorities have not yet commented on the raid.

In another development, two Baloch youth were killed in an alleged encounter with the police in Karachi. The police said that the two youth – identified as Amir and Bilal, both in their early twenties – were members of the Magsi gang in Karachi and were killed in a confrontation with the police.

The Karachi police said that they had apprehended another member of the infamous Liyari gang in a raid. Through the information gathered from the arrestee, the police raided the Magsi gang hideout and a confrontation broke out. Bilal and Amir were killed in the shoot-out and two other members were wounded.

The two dead bodies and the wounded were moved to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital in Karachi.

The viral videos on social media tell a different story. In one of these videos, the Karachi police can be visibly seen apprehending said individuals alive. The local sources say that the police detained four individuals, including Bilal and Amir, from the Old Sabzi Market in Karachi and moved them to an unknown location.

They say that the police shot dead two of the detainees and wounded the other two in a fake encounter. The locals protested against the incident and were assured by the Senior Superintendent of Police that the incident will be thoroughly investigated.
