A man was shot dead in Panjgur district of Balochistan, on Tuesday.

According to details, the incident took place in front of Civil Hospital in Chitkan Bazaar where Zubair son of Dilmurad was severely injured by the firing of unidentified motorcyclists.

Later the injured succumbed to death due to critical injuries.

An armed group, Baloch Republican Army (BRA) has claimed the responsibility of the attack. BRA spokesperson, Beebagr Baloch said that last year, Zubair and his brother Umar murdered a Baloch woman, Raaj Gul daughter of Passund resident of Zamran.

BRA spokesperson Beebagr Baloch in a Statement released to the media, has said that “Zubair had been active against the Baloch struggle for the past four years, for which the Military Intelligence (MI) personnel had given him a complete exemption from theft and robbery in Parom and Panjgur. Due to which he had made the life difficult for the locals.”

He further stated; “after the martyrdom of Baloch daughter Raaj Gul, the police arrested Zubair’s brother Umar but Zubair along with MI officer Basir Ali pressurized the victim’s family to stay away from the court proceedings regarding the murder.” Therefor we appeal to the United Nations to take actions against the active state institutions for saving the other killer of Raaj Gull, he added.

The spokesperson further added that their operations against the “death squads” will be intensified. He appealed to Baloch people stay away from them.

According to various reports, the operatives of local armed groups, also known as ‘death squads’ set up by the state forces and intelligence agencies have been given free rein, which has led to an increase in thefts and robberies.

A few weeks earlier, a band of burglars – allegedly headed by a Death Squad leader, Sameer Sabzal – breached into Jasim s/o Ameer’s house at midnight. When the burglars attempted to ransack the house, the materfamilias, Malik Naz, put up a resistance against them. The burglars shot her dead at the spot and abjectly wounded her four-year-old daughter, Bramash.

The incident created a massive outcry and resulted in various protests throughout Balochistan and abroad.
