Three coal miners died after toxic gas accumulated inside a coal mine in Dukki district of Balochistan, according to local reports.
The deceased have been identified as Khan, son of Pai Muhammad, from the Barakzai tribe; Sirajuddin, son of Fateh Muhammad, from the Achakzai tribe; and Abdullah, from the Alizai tribe, who was a resident of Afghanistan.
Following the incident, Sher Muhammad Kakar, president of the Pakistan United Workers Federation in Dukki, criticised the safety conditions in the mining sector and alleged that inadequate safety measures and weak monitoring were contributing to repeated accidents.
Kakar called on the authorities to improve safety standards in coal mines, ensure workers have adequate protective facilities, and investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Coal mining accidents, including those involving toxic or poisonous gases, have repeatedly resulted in fatalities among miners in Balochistan.
