A protest rally was held in Balochistan’s Khuzdar district on Saturday against the alleged enforced disappearance of student Asif Baloch, with his family demanding his immediate recovery and production before a court.
Family members said Asif Baloch, a resident of Khuzdar, was taken by Pakistani forces from the Emaan City area of Samungli Road in Quetta on July 13 and that no information had since been provided about his whereabouts.
They said his continued disappearance without court production was a violation of legal requirements and fundamental human rights.
During the protest, the family demanded his immediate and safe recovery and called on the authorities to produce him before a court in accordance with the law if he was accused of any offence.
The family also appealed to the United Nations, the international community and human rights organisations to take notice of the case and press for his recovery.
There was no immediate official response to the allegations.
