“Pro-independence” Baloch armed groups have claimed responsibility for separate attacks in Naseerabad and Kachhi districts of Balochistan, according to statements released to the media.
In a statement, Dostain Baloch, spokesperson for the Baloch Republican Guards (BRG), said the group targeted machinery allegedly belonging to Pakistani security forces in the Dera Murad Jamali area of Naseerabad. He stated that explosives were planted on the equipment near Rabi, resulting in its destruction.
The spokesperson alleged that the machinery was part of what he described as military-linked commercial activities involving agricultural resources in Balochistan. He further said the group intended to target similar projects and warned individuals associated with them to distance themselves.
In a separate statement, the United Baloch Army (UBA) claimed responsibility for an armed attack in the Sanni area of Kachhi district on 4 April. UBA spokesperson Mazar Baloch said the group’s fighters exchanged fire with individuals he described as members of a state-backed armed group.
According to the statement, two men identified as Aziz Jatoi and Nawab Jatoi, son of Muhammad Ashraf Jatoi, were killed in the exchange, and their weapons were seized.
The UBA spokesperson alleged that the individuals had been associated with Pakistani intelligence-linked armed groups for several years and had been involved in providing information on Baloch fighters, as well as in the detention of local residents. He added that warnings had previously been issued to them.
The group also issued warnings to others it accused of working with state institutions, urging them to cease such activities.
There was no immediate response from Pakistani authorities regarding the incidents.
