At least ten people, including nine Levies Force personnel, were injured on Monday in a bomb blast targeting the convoy of Kech Deputy Commissioner (DC) Major (retd) Bashir Barech in Balochistan’s Turbat, police said.
According to officials, the explosion occurred near Press Club Road when an explosive device planted on a motorcycle was detonated remotely as the DC’s convoy passed by.
Kech Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Captain (retd) Zohaib Mohsin said the motorcycle had been parked along the roadside and the bomb was triggered as the convoy drove past.
“The Deputy Commissioner remained safe, but nine Levies personnel and a passerby were injured,” he said, adding that one of the convoy’s vehicles was badly damaged.
Pakistani armed forces and police cordoned off the area immediately after the explosion and launched a search operation. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
