Reports indicate a renewed surge in enforced disappearances across Balochistan, with several individuals allegedly detained and disappeared by Pakistani security forces in recent days.
According to local sources, a tenth-grade student, Abdullah son of Baian, from the Tajaban area of Tump, Kech district, was reportedly taken into custody by security personnel from his residence in Quetta last night. His whereabouts remain unknown since the incident. Family members stated that authorities have not confirmed his arrest or provided any explanation for his detention.
In a separate incident, on the night of 4 October 2025, at around 3 a.m., Pakistani forces allegedly detained Irshad Ahmed Sumalani, Tanveer Ahmed Sumalani, and Zaheer Ahmed Sumalani—three brothers and sons of Aziz Ahmed Sumalani—from the Baloch Colony, Joint Road area of Quetta.
On the same night, another brother, Nazeer Ahmed Sumalani, was reportedly detained from Shahrag in Killi Mengalabad. He also remains missing.
Human rights organisations have repeatedly expressed concern over the growing number of enforced disappearances in Balochistan. They report a notable increase in cases involving students and young men over recent years.
