A shutter-down strike and highway blockade were observed in Balochistan’s Kalat district on Saturday in protest against the alleged abduction of a local youth.
Residents said markets and shops remained closed in Manguchar, while protesters staged a sit-in on the Quetta-Karachi National Highway, suspending all traffic.
The demonstrators alleged that a man identified as Inayatullah Lehri was abducted by unidentified individuals from Rahim Market late on Friday night. They vowed to continue the protest and sit-in until his recovery.
The highway blockade caused long queues of vehicles, leaving passengers stranded for several hours and causing severe disruption to travel.
