The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) said on Wednesday that its fighters killed at least 11 Pakistani soldiers in five separate attacks across Kalat and Khuzdar districts of Balochistan.
In a media statement, BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch said the group’s fighters carried out coordinated operations over the past week, targeting military convoys, posts and bomb disposal personnel.
According to the group, four Pakistani soldiers were killed and three injured on Tuesday when a military truck was struck by a remote-controlled improvised explosive device (IED) in the Shekhri area of Kalat. The vehicle was destroyed in the explosion, it said.
On the same day in Kalat’s Morgand area, the BLA said its fighters ambushed Pakistani troops on foot, killing two. In another operation in Morgand, a sniper attack killed a soldier stationed at a military post.
The group further claimed that on Friday, 5 September, it used a remote-controlled IED against on-foot army personnel in Morgand, killing two and injuring two others.
In a separate attack in the Zehri, Anjira area of Khuzdar district, the BLA said its fighters detonated an IED targeting bomb disposal personnel, killing two.
The latest attacks come amid a surge in BLA operations across southern and central Balochistan since the start of September. On 9 September, the group said it killed seven Pakistani soldiers in a convoy bombing in Kech district’s Tump area, its third high-casualty strike in just a week. Two days earlier, it claimed responsibility for an attack in Zamuran that killed nine soldiers, while on 2 September it said another bombing in the same area killed seven Pakistani soldiers.
The BLA said its operations were aimed at “the Pakistani Army and its expansionist agenda,” declaring that military convoys, installations and supply lines remained “legitimate targets.” It vowed to continue attacks until, “the occupying forces withdraw from Balochistan.”
