Armed groups operating in Balochistan have claimed responsibility for a series of attacks targeting security forces, police posts and vehicles involved in mineral transportation in recent days.
According to statements released to the media, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) said its fighters carried out five separate attacks in Kech, Harnai, Kharan and Quetta districts of Balochistan. The group claimed to have used improvised explosive devices (IEDs) against security personnel in Zamuran and Goerkop, resulting in the death of at least two Pakistani soldiers and injuries to others.
The BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch further stated that its fighters set fire to a mineral-laden vehicle near Quetta, attacked a gas facility in Harnai, destroying tankers, and temporarily seized control of a police post in Kharan before releasing detained officers.
Separately, the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) also issued a statement claiming responsibility for five attacks in Mashkay and Mastung. The BLF said its fighters targeted a Pakistani military camp and its allied armed militia’s (death squad) camp in Saniri, damaging infrastructure and killing one “death squad” member. In Mastung, the group reported firing on convoys transporting minerals, disabling several vehicles. On 31 August, the BLF said it ambushed a military vehicle in Ogar, Mashkay, killing four Pakistan soldiers. The group added that it filmed some of these operations for future release.
In another incident, local sources confirmed that unidentified gunmen shot dead a resident, identified as Nadeem son of Ali Mohammad, in Zehri, Khuzdar district. The attackers fled the scene. Nadeem had previously survived an earlier assassination attempt claimed by the BLF, which accused him of being linked to Pakistan’s military operations. While the BLF had accepted responsibility for the earlier attack, no group has so far claimed involvement in the latest killing.
Security forces have not independently confirmed the casualty figures provided by the armed groups.
