The mutilated body of a young man, identified as Shah Jan, son of Murad, was recovered today in Balochistan’s Panjgur district. According to local sources, Shah Jan had allegedly been forcibly disappeared on 29 July—just ten days after his wedding.
Family members and local residents claim he was taken by personnel associated with a so-called state-backed “death squad” and was last seen being transported to the Frontier Corps (FC) camp in Panjgur. No official information regarding his detention was released. Today, his body was discovered in a severely mutilated condition.
This marks the second such case in Panjgur within the last two days. On Sunday, a decomposed body recovered from the Parom area of Panjgur was identified as that of Inayatullah, son of Khair Mohammad. Inayatullah had reportedly been abducted in early December last year. His family alleges that he was taken from their home by armed men believed to be members of a state-backed unit.
Enforced disappearances and the subsequent discovery of mutilated bodies have become a deeply distressing and recurring issue in Balochistan. Numerous families continue to search for missing loved ones, many of whom have been unaccounted for over months or even years.
Despite repeated appeals by human rights organisations and local activists, there has been little to no visible progress in addressing these incidents. Calls for investigations and accountability remain largely unanswered by state authorities.
