Pakistan Railways has suspended operations of the Jafar Express between Quetta and Peshawar for two days, officials confirmed on Monday.
According to railway authorities, the train will not operate from Quetta to Peshawar today and tomorrow, while services from Peshawar to Quetta have also been halted for the day.
The suspension follows a series of security concerns in the region. Earlier this year, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) hijacked the Jafar Express and briefly held more than 200 Pakistani army personnel hostage in a major operation. The unprecedented incident disrupted rail services across Balochistan, and authorities have since faced challenges in restoring normal train schedules.
